Would Winning Change Anything?

There is one question that lingers in the back of all Islander fans minds.  That question is if winning would change anything.  If the Islanders weren't 18 years without a playoff series victory or have made the playoffs since the 2006/2007 season would we already have a new arena.  In my mind the answer to that question is no for one reason.  That reason is Nassau.  I don't think all the Stanley Cups in the world could solve the political issues in Nassau that have prevented a solution to this issue.  I mean Bill Torrey told Chris Botta in a interview once that the organization tried  to get a new arena in 1982 and nothing came from it.  If the dynasty team who won 4 cups and 19 consecutive playoffs series couldn't pressure Nassau for a new arena what team could?  I don't even think winning would of change the results of the referendum on August 1st, since in this economy people do not want to spend more money on anything.  The only thing that can force Nassau hand in my mind is the Islanders expiring lease and even with that added pressure I doubt Nassau will be able to come up with an adequate plan to save the Islanders.

  1. Even if NY Islanders win 27 Stanley Cup Championships, it wouldnt fly. Even if they become NY Yankees of NHL, it wont work.

So, the best way for Islanders to do is move to Brooklyn
